TRAINING: Lydiard Statistics

I couldn't help but run some figures to compare the Lydiard period of my training (the last 33 days) with the other training of the year (the 273 days before):

  • Avg. Km/Day (Lydiard): 12.24 km
  • Avg. Km/Day (pre-Lydiard): 8.14 km
These figures are quite revealing: An increase of daily volume of more than 33.5% in five weeks and this margin will continue to grow for the next 5.5 weeks (and then flatten before probably increasing again as my base pace increases).

This shows how quickly you can affect a very radical transformation of your training volume. Of course, you have to do so without breaking and that is still to be proved.
